BECAUSE I WILL GET TO EDDIE EVENTUALLY GDI
Aug 4 2012, 01:13 AM
Ugh okay so as most of you know I've come down with a terrible illness that isn't actually that terrible my immune system is just a piece of shit and everything hurts so basically I am dead and wont be doing much of anything these next few days.

I've got about half of a few posts typed up so I might finish those off but after that...we'll just have to sit around and wait until I get better. I'll probably stop in the cbox ever once and a while and I'll be on aim but probably wont touch the ICC, either. Too much concentration.

Not sure how long I'll be sick but it probably wont be too long. I slept like 14 hours today, on and off, so...not going to be the best member for the next little while. Which everyone knows I'm not anyways.[s]

So I love you all and hope to kick this cold-flu-like-thing in the ass. Try not to miss me too much. [s]I know Nary wont.

No, but really, you're all too clique-y for me I might as well just quit now while I have an excuse. My existence here is nothing but a pile of lies.

Yours ever-so-affectionately,
Mur

There are six things that the Lord hates,
seven that are an abomination to him:
haughty eyes, a lying tongue,
and hands that shed innocent blood…

In all earnestness, it had taken longer than he presumed it might have. As it turned out, the man he had been sent to interrogate - and in the end finish off - had a bit more information about an investment close to the heart of the HOUNDS than had first been expected. The information was useful, or at least it would be soon enough, but there had still been the issue of mortality to deal with.

Given that he was already pressed for time, he took the quickest approach that he could manage without the use of a firearm. But oh, how he had been a bleeder. And on top of that there was the matter of his tie. The scrawny little fellow had put up a bit of a struggle - a tiny struggle when compared to the usual standards of a HOUND as fervent as Barrett the younger, but a good enough tussle to result in his needing some sort of restraint for the scrawny man, the easiest form of which was summoned from the bow tie that had been fastened around his own neck in preparation for later events.

The results had been satisfactory. The information had been acquired and the mark had been made. The body was disposed of, and suspicion would be diverted. But the tie...the dark fabric was doused in a shade much different from its own, a crimson stain that he had not the time nor the patience to remove. After all, when you were a man as busy as Christopher, little time could be wasted on the cleansing of a tie alone, regardless of how perfect it had been for the events that were to come. A priceless possession in the moment, but one that needed to be replaced much sooner than later. Fortunately enough, however, the man had been one of wealth, and Christopher found himself oh-so strangely in possession of the key to his flat.

The man’s closet was filled with an assortment of the best suits and shirts, as well as his wife's no doubt expensive taste in dresses and gowns, her sparkling jewelry still sitting upon her dressing table. He didn't doubt that the man’s wide would not miss him - women like her found new husbands of equal or greater wealth with the bat of an eyelash and nothing more. But there was an absence of an item which unceasingly perturbed the consciousness of Mr. Barrett more than the death of the woman's husband would bother her. He had found all that he was in search of in the presence of the little wealthy man, all save for a replacement for his ruined tie.

The man had plenty of ties, yes, but none in the special shape that Barrett required. But the clang of the grandfather clock situated within the flat reminded him there was little time, and he must sacrifice perfection in the sake of business and loyalty - but oh, how it bothered him to do so. Pressed for time he gathered up one of the silken strings and wrapped it around his neck, hating the appearance of the elongated fabric, he wrapped the tie in a much untraditional pattern, loosely strangling himself with the fabric in annoyance, the long tie wrapping into an uneven bow, and proceeded directly where he was scheduled to be.

He made it in time for the announcement of partners with barely a second to spare. But imagine his surprise upon his arrival to discover his name not mispronounced not misquoted, but misplaced entirely and tossed in with the wrong gender. And while most would consider it an accident - a misread, misprint, and misunderstanding, he couldn't help but feel as though tonight someone had the intention of spiting him. If he’d been a young boy he would have blamed Nicholi, but fortunately, or perhaps unfortunately, he knew it was a mistake of someone else, and not a game his silly brother had put into play. He hadn’t even wanted to come to this to begin with, but he had been encouraged to follow through, and now he was regretting every bit of it.

But the name…the name had been familiar – a Basil Hyland. He’d always been good with names, and it bothered him to an indescribable degree not to recall it from his memory. Faces, faces were his specialty. Men could change their names as often as a pair of socks, but faces…that was far more difficult to disguise. He’d spent his life tacking more faces into his mind than names. Nevertheless, as a hound, it was important to have a precise and dedicated memory, a memory that listed every name and every face in a proper, methodical order. A mind which Christopher had found himself in possession of until this very moment. But perhaps it was the disappointment of his own appearance that was throwing him off.

Straightening himself out in the middle of the crowded hall, Christopher checked himself over like some form of a proper gentleman, as many of the surrounding people no doubt assumed him to be. Tugging at the cuffs of his sleeves, smoothing out the buttons of his shirt, tightening the pathetically unimpressive black fabric strapped around his neck - damn the color of blood and his inability to remove it from anything but the human body within the span of five minutes. But there was no use in dwelling upon the dreadful fate of his previously perfect tie. No, instead he had business to do, and presently the best thing that he could manage to think up was to find his partner, and clarify the fact that he wasn’t, well…he wasn't quite...Christine.
